Entertainment – Waterparks

Pop-punk is dead, or at least that’s what the masses would have you believe. Just don’t tell the trio from Houston still living mid-2000s dream on their second album. It helps when you’re managed and produced by the Madden brothers, but the band’s chops sound just as bona fide without the knowledge of the pedigree backing them. It’s all here – the overdriven guitars, nasally vocals, popping drum hits, and lyrics full of angst that normally comes from those a decade younger than the ones singing them. It’s a combination that reels in the years for any older millennial who fondly remembers floppy hair and Hollister t-shirts. Every decade has a rerun at least once – maybe it’s time for ours.
