There’s something pleasant about letting yourself go along for the ride, especially if you’re not the type of person who typically does so. I know that sounds counterintuitive, but as one of those people I can say with great certainty that, in the rare moments I allow myself, it’s incredibly freeing and ultimately relaxing letting go of control, if only for a time. After the first drum hit that followed the opening strums I knew that I would have to let go of any expectations I would have along the way until the final notes played out, and my experience was better for it. Straddling multiple genres that I can only describe as a variety of the ‘90s, each song showed a new place that Hop Along was willing to go, and it wasn’t until it was all over that I realized how far the journey had taken me. If I ever need another moment to let go of control, I know exactly where to turn.
